ITO Glass Substrate Options

ITO coated glass substrates are mainly used as conductive substrates in various applications, including solar cells and bio-sensors for instance. ITO coated films are applied to appropriate glass substrates which can be used to shield and reduce electromagnetic radio waves (EMI and RFI).

ITO Glass Substrate Options

Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) is one of the most widely used Transparent Conducting Oxides (TCO) due to its two main properties – its electrical conductivity and optical transparency.

High-quality ITO can be deposited on a substrate as a thin film which can be used as electrodes for solar cells, LCD display, electrochemical deposition, capacitors, Infrared detection applications, and more.

So which glass substrate options are there?

Diamond Coatings provides a variety of substrates made of various special glasses. They include:

Borosilicate glass substrates

This is a high-quality, clear transparent glass offering superior and uniform optical transmission from visible to the infrared spectral range.

Borosilicate glass offers capabilities required by substrate materials used for coated optics such as mirrors, filters, anti-reflection coatings and even laser optics. It is used in various applications such as:

  • Photovoltaic applications
  • Sight glass windows
  • Fiber optic applications
  • Glass covers for sensors
  • Laboratory glass equipment
  • Glass components for environmental technology
  • Laser applications
  • Medical and biotechnology applications

BK7 substrates

BK7 consists of very pure universal optical glass. It contains one of the most standard glass types needed to produce high-quality optics for the visible spectrum.

The high quality makes BK7 glass the best choice for optical windows, lenses, and prisms. The smooth transmission and low absorption in the whole visible wavelength range are a vital feature for a variety of optical applications.

These applications include:

  • Crucial optical applications
  • Base material for precision optics
  • Windows, lenses, and prisms
  • Substrates for mirror and filter coatings
  • Used in measurement and sensor technology
  • Lenses and dispersion prisms
