Transparent ITO heaters consist of visually transparent substrates that have been coated with indium tin oxide, which is electrically conductive, at various sheet resistances. When exposed to a current passing through it, this coating generates the necessary heat to extend the operating temperatures of LCDs (liquid crystal displays) within cold environments. The coating also serves to anti-fog, anti-ice and de-ice optics/optical displays.
Transparent ITO Heaters – Applications
Typical applications we provide Transparent ITO Heaters for include, for instance:
- IVF Workstations
- Industrial Control Screens
- Marine and Naval Flight Deck, Hanger and Cargo Area Lighting and Equipment
- Military Periscopes, Command & Control Screens and Ground Vehicles
Transparent ITO Heaters by Diamond Coatings
We can supply Transparent ITO Heaters manufactured from a variety of glass types, including BK7, toughened and standard float glass and a range of other substrates (such as, for instance, quartz or sapphire, which are primarily used for the smaller heaters utilized by research and design organizations).
Transparent Polycarbonate ITO Heaters
Diamond Coatings also has the capacity to manufacture Transparent Polycarbonate ITO Heaters, which are the perfect solution to heated display filters providing ideal de-icing and de-misting abilities within harsh environments. In addition, Transparent Polycarbonate ITO Heaters have the advantage of providing high impact resistance and offering weight savings.
Additional Options
All types of Diamond Coatings Transparent ITO Heaters can also be combined to add provision of EMC Filters to their primary heating function. ITO Index-Matching and Anti-Reflection coatings to optimize optical performance and further reduce reflection are also available options.
To meet the design requirements of customers, we can also supply Transparent ITO Heaters with screened graphics, dielectric inks or epoxy ink borders.
In addition, glass-based Transparent ITO Heaters can be supplied with bus-bars (silver-frit fired) enabling solder-able, stronger connections to/with the bus-bar.
Diamond Coatings also provide standard thermistors designed to facilitate controlled activation/de-activation of Transparent ITO Heaters with the desired temperature parameters of specific applications.
