ITO Coated Glass Substrates
ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) is a material that is used more commonly than you might expect. When a substrate such as glass, acrylic or polycarbonate is coated with a thin layer of ITO it can become electronically conductive. The add-on benefit here is that ITO is transparent, offering high conductivity with no loss of optical clarity.
Because of this, ITO coatings on various substrates are used in a multitude of industries and applications, including flat panel displays, touch screens and smart glass.
ITO can also be applied to thin PET films, which are utilised in aircraft cockpit windows, for instance, to stop the glass from fogging over. This is achieved by applying a uniform and if required, constant voltage across the glass.
In the science, R&D and medical industries, ITO is applied to microscope slides, which has vastly assisted in the studies of cell growth using electron microscopy.
The process of coating a glass substrate with an ITO coating is performed with considerable care. The procedure requires entirely vacuum-enclosed conditions. The sputtering method used for coating the glass sheet with ITO is performed at a consistent temperature.
ITO Coated Glass
Diamond Coatings offer an extensive range of specialist coated glass products including:
Cinema Projector Glass – We have developed an E60 fire rated anti reflective projector glass which was designed to deliver the optimum delivery of digital projection of media. With a visible transmission rate of 96% at wavelengths ranging from 450nm to 650nm, our projector glass is used throughout the UK, Europe and beyond.
OLED Grade Glass – This smooth-surfaced indium tin oxide coated type of glass is suitable for a diversity of OLED type applications. The surface of this glass type has been rendered suitable for deposition of ultra-thin subsequent layers by ion-modified magnetron sputtering the ITO coating onto glass with polished surfaces.
OLED Grade glass can be supplied in full size sheets (max. size: 400mm x 500mm) or precision diced pieces (min. size: 10mm x 10mm).
ITO Coated Slides & Coverslips – We offer an extensive range of ITO coated glass microscope slides and coverslips, we can supply coatings on substrates including:
BK7 Glass
Borosilicate Glass
Fused Quartz Glass
Fused Silica Glass
Soda Lime Float Glass
These substrates can be provided polished to comply with specific flatness/optical requirements. We also work with our clients on specific requests such as being profiled with radius, chamfers, cut-outs and holes as required
We can also offer thermally/chemically toughened glass options and/or diverse other enhancements (i.e. printed graphics/borders, anti-glare finishes).
